The song that I sang, I Learned from Bernice Trudeau who I respect deeply as a person and as a teacher. The only two words in the song are Miigwetch Gizhe Manidoo, which translates to thank you Great Spirit (Creator). It is customary for First Nations people to offer tobacco to the four directions and thank the creator for the gifts that surround us, the animals, the plants, the birds, the insects, all your ancestors, your relations, your friends and anything else you can think of to be thankful for. This is a song that I will keep close to my heart.
--Miiqwech Chris Walser for the beautiful song!!--
